Not too sure if this is the right place for this question ...
.... but in the absence of anywhere to talk about the forum itself, I will try here.
I have noticed, that some of the posts I have made have the capability of being edited (to correct typos and other mistakes), but some posts do not have that facility.
I know that phpBB administration allows for that flexibility, but still wonder why it is allowed in some forums but not in others. :?:

There's no particular plan with regard to editing of posts. That's just how it's ended up. You should only be able to edit your own posts as a user.
As moderator I can edit any post if I need to (but I don't think I ever have - apart from my own).
I will go and have a look and see if I can make it more consistant.

It is now more consistent. :)
But, it is now set so that we can no longer edit any of our posts. :(
Please, can we have it set so that we can edit our own posts, so that when we may a silly mistake (like this one), we can put it right.

I fiddled with the Forum permissions last time round (it's not entirely straight forward) in order to try and add the "Edit" option...
As Moderator/Admin/God I always see an Edit button and I can edit any post I like...the power...
Anyway I have altered the permissions for this forum (chat) only so can you see if the "Edit" button has re-appeared. Can you also check to make sure you can only edit your own posts (and not other peoples). If the settings are correct I will apply them accross the rest of the board.

No, sorry. I can not edit posts in this forum.
This is what I can do:
You can post new topics in this forum
You can reply to topics in this forum
You cannot edit your posts in this forum
You cannot delete your posts in this forum
You can vote in polls in this forum

Right I have changed it again - my concern is to make sure that people can only edit their own posts.

OK
You can post new topics in this forum
You can reply to topics in this forum
You can edit your posts in this forum
You cannot delete your posts in this forum
You can vote in polls in this forum

Edit: And I have checked the top half dozen topics in this forum and I can only edit my own posts. :) (no edit button on posts belonging to anybodyelse)

Right I have changed all th Editing permissions, so hopefully that will allow you to edit your own posts across all the forums.
