Could I request that the feature of video capture be included in VA at some point in the future?
Until then, can someone recommend a good program for doing this?
Many thanks.

Sorry, but this is not something that we have any plans to do.

Run VA in a Window and Capture using a Windows Utility e.g Simply Capture (which is free by the way). Or are you looking for something to run within VA ? In which case I don't know of any suitable RO tools to do this

I might have misread the original posting, is the requirement to:
Capture video inside RISC OS for editing
or
To captutre the entire RISC OS desktop to create a movie
of whats being done in the desktop.
As John says Simply Capture will do the later, as for the former, I really can see the point as RISC OS is not really a good platform for video editing.

CamStudio is an excellent free alternative for video capture on the PC. The address is http://www.camstudio.org

The teaser is what does fwibbler mean by "video capture"? Wiki uses the term in the sense of capturing an analogue or digital video stream - e.g. from a camcorder, VCR or even a DVD player - by a computer for viewing, editing, burning a DVD, etc.

If that's what he's referring to, IMHO the most reliable and user-friendly method is to use Microsoft's MovieMaker bundled with Windows XP (SP2 or later). Some versions of Windows bundle Corel's VideoStudio which has many more bells & whistles, including video DVD-burning, but is more of a handful to drive.

If it helps, we ran a series of articles in Archive mag. on the topic, starting in issue 19:1, p51 (Oct 2005), all of which are on the Archive Disc (DVD/double-CD).
