I have been a follower of RiscOS for quite some time, but I never had the strength to invest so much money. Now that I have discovered VA, I really would like to buy a license. But I have a major problem: I dont useWindows, only Linux.

First question: Will VA ever be available for Linux? Are there any plans for it or will this just create a niche in a niche?

Currently I am asuming that there will never be a VA for Linux, so I am trying to think about another way to use it. I have successfully started RedSquirrel using Cedega (formally known as WineX, a reimplementation of the Windows API specially tuned to run games - see www.transgaming.com). All the menues come up and it seems to run flawlessly, but as I don't own any ROMs there is no way to tell if the emulation runs well too and how fast it is?

Second question: Has anybody successfully run ReqSquirrel or VA on Linux using Wine, Crossover-Office, Cedega or any other windows emulation technology? What are the results?

Third question: How closely related are RedSquirrel and VA? If one is properly running on Linux, what are the chances that the other one is, too?

Thanks to anybody who can help me with these questions,
Bernd

There are some details on the website about running VA5000 on Linux (in the VA5000 tech support section), however the info doesn't apply to VirtualRPC. A Linux version may be possible at some point.

VA and RS are closely related, but just because RS runs (which may be older) doesn't necessarily mean that VA will run, but it might!
