My VA RPC-Adjust on a Dell Latitude laptop (W7) has stopped working and will not restart though I have tried re-installation. The problem followed on an Internet connectivity problem, where I made temporary use of a 3G dongle while the DSL was down.
Error message follows:

I have VA on other computers but the laptop is the only computer which I can use at home.

I've now got VA working. I had coped the entire VA folder to a temporary folder before playing around with the original setup. VA booted (sort of) from the temporary folder, so I deleted the original from the Program Files location, copied the backup to that vacant slot, and it booted without a murmur.
I will still be interested to be told why this happened in the first place.

Well, it's over 5 years down the line but I have a similar problem. I was unable to run VRPC for some weeks due to monitor problems. Yesterday, I resolved these but got the following crash report when I tried to run VirtualRPC-AdjustSA.exe. The installation sits on its own SSD in the PC (Windows 7 SP1) and is using the ARM7500 model running OS 4.39. I get the same error from the backup on an external USB HDD.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: VirtualRPC-AdjustSA.exe
Application Version: 1.6.0.0
Application Timestamp: 45799d29
Fault Module Name: VirtualRPC-AdjustSA.exe

Can you offer any help Aaron? Or anyone else if they think they know what might be the problem. If not I shall have to try a reinstallation which I want to avoid. All my applications and data are safe on a separate mount but, even so, I would like to avoid having to reinstall.

Thanks,

John

A further development...

I ran RegEdit and searched for VirtualRPC. I found about 5 entries. Although I looked at the contents (right click and choose Modify... then Cancel), nothing was changed.

Lo and behold, when I idly clicked on the task bar icon for VRPC, the damn thing ran without a murmur! Inanimate machine 1, human being 0.

The only problem was that the resolution was 3840??1080 and the display was almost unreadable when confined to just the one monitor. Blind (almost) fiddling with the Display menu eventually got me back to 1920??1080 and I was able to change the setting in Configure.

All I have to do now is strip the machine down and reinstall the graphics card and get it to treat the two monitors as one.

This is unsatisfactory, in a way, because I still don't know what caused the problem. However, I have a solution which is a great relief.

John
