HI

I have two user accounts on a machine running windows vista. If I run Virtual acorn on account 'A' all is fine, but if I log off and run it on accounts 'B' I get the error message 'DLL vaclipboad.dll not found - copy it into the same directory as the .EXE'.

On checking the Programs Files/VirtualAcorn/VirtualRPC-AdjustSA folder, VAclipboard.dll is present.

Can anyone advise what happening here.

JV

The second account probably has some different permissions set. Perhaps it's not an Admin account? Perhaps you need to set the permissions for the VRPC manually when running the second account?

On my Vista notebook, I get the same message as administrator, even if additionally I click on "Run as Administrator" in its context menu.
What else can be the reason for this behaviour?

Regards,

Jochen

It's an accounts "rights" issue. What seems (most likely) to have happened is that the VAClipboard.dll hasn't been give the correct rights to be run on the account you are using.

The correct rights will need to be set for the whole of:

C:\program files\VirtualAcorn\VirtualRPC-xxx

So that all the "bits" of VirtualRPC get the correct rights.

For XP users this might help:

The same problem can also crop up when trying to install RISC OS 6 onto a VirtualRPC.

I tried out some things on my Vista machine but apparently I didn't find the right menu option, because VirtualRPC still doesn't find the .dll.

Could I get a hint where to look?

Regards,

Jochen

I'm not near the pc in question at the moment but I think my workround was to set compatibility mode for windowsXP (service pack2).

I'd love to try that but I can't find that option. :(

Setting VRPC to run in compatability mode for Windows XP might "fix" the problem...but VRPC will suffer a severe performance hit when running in compatability mode.
