That old VAclipboard.dll not found etc etc moan has started preventing
WinClip from running.
I've been to the Forum and tried searching for various versions of
"VAclipboard.dll" or VAclipboard.dll not found" and it returns from the
search with nothing, because it say there are no posts with the word
VAclipboard or whatever I've used.

Now this is a problem I've seen reported before, so there must be some
reference somewhere...

Well there is but the ... search can't find it.
It's in "Winclip on Vista". Found by manually searching through.

The possible solution there is of no use to me on a couple of counts.

1) UAC has always been turned off.
Last week it was working okay, this week not.
2) I've just turned UAC ON as a tester, rebooted the machine, no change
VRPC still moans about the .dll

The stupid thing is, VAclipboard.dll is already in the same directory as
the .exe file.
In the windows Filer list they display next to each other.
VAclipboard.dll followed by VirtualRPC-AdjustSA.exe

What's going on?

I now have the answer to my problem thanks to Ray Dawson posting on a Newsgroup.
Thanks Ray

Glad you've sorted out the problem. I suspect that for some reason the .dll wasn't being "seen". My first suggestion would be to manually "run" it by double clicking on it before launching VirtualRPC to see if WinClip then started up.

However it would be handy if you could post the solution here, thanks.

In the end Ray's answer didn't really solve the problem, as it soon returned, and kept returning.
I tried a couple of other things including running the .dll before, but...
The only permanent solution I've found, and it's still working, is to run VRPC-AdjustSA on Vista as compatibility mode XP SP2
I've not had the error re-appear once since changing to that setting.

Dave

BTW. Double clicking the .dll just doesn't work.

Are you logged into Vista using an account with Admin settings?

Yes.
There is only one account, the administrator, Me.

If I double click a .dll a window pops up asking, blaa, blaa Open with?

Hmmm, that's a weird one then. As a user with Admin level authority you should be able to run a Windows application that wants to load its own .dll files with no problem.

I seem to recall that there is a general .dll "cache" inside the Windows Vista folder on the harddisc - I wonder if it's worth adding a copy of the WinClip.dll there? I can't provide much more detail as I don't currently have a Vista install that works (insert own joke) as I've dumped it off my laptop and the copy on my Core 2 Desktop has snuffed it :(
