Hi, I've just re-installed VRPC-SA from scratch on my laptop. I keep getting the following error on Shutdown when clicking the "Return to Windows" button.
"Bad Command 12"
Here is what I've done this morning...
1. Install VRPC-SA from CD
2. Install Direct X from CD
3. Install PD software from CD
4. Installed Hostfsmay2006 upgrade
5. Installed Oct2006 upgrade
6. Checked all OK - Restart
7. Installed Select 3i4
8. Merged !Boot in Selectsupport>PowerSaving
9. Merged !Boot in Selectsupport>VRPCfeatures
10. Shutdown gives the same error
Can you shed any light on what is happening or if I've done something wrong? My CD serial number is 20279-VRP.
BTW: I didn't get this error when I used VRPC-SE
Regards
Gary

Hi John
No answer to this as yet. I was beginning to thing that this was something peculiar to my machine/set-up so I'm 'pleased' that someone else has the same problem.
I think Aaron is busy with other things at the moment but I'm going to email him to draw his attention to this. If only so that he might be able to make some suggestions as to what could be the problem.
It would be interested to hear from any other users that have experienced the same error on shutdown. I'll ask in CSA.Misc
Cheers
Gary

I get the same error with VirtualRPC-SE after having applied the December 2006 upgrade.

I still can't seem to reproduce this problem. So can everyone who suffers from it please answer the following questions and e-mail me the answers, then I can collate it and see if I can see the commonality. Please don't post the answers here as that won't help.
Questions are:
OK, I've now seen further reports of this, but still can't make it
happen here, so I am e-mialing everyone the same list of
questions to try and get to the bottom of it.
What exactly is the error message?
When exactly does it happen?
Which type of VirtualAcorn?
SE, SA, Adjust, AdjustSA
Which version of VirtualAcorn is it?
Version 1.6 is the latest.
Which version of RISC OS is being run?
4.02, 4.39 etc
If Select which version?
3i1, 2i3 etc
If Select does the problem occur in the base OS (4.02)?
Yes/No
Which version of Windows is being used?
2000/XP
When did the problem start?
Is power management enabled in VirtualAcorn?

Right, I think I have the solution.
Firstly make sure that the "Desktop Shutdown Warning" message is enabled for Select.
Now dig through the boot sequence and remove all copies of !VSAShutdown.
Now quit and re-load VRPC.
Now when shutting down click on the Off button, not the Shutdown button.
