Welcome to the Virtual Acorn Product Registration System
This page allow you to request an unlock code for an installation of VirtualRPC that has been moved from one computer to another.
Moving VirtualRPC from one machine to another
All copies of VirtualRPC are self contained and do not, for example, rely on the Windows Registry or setting variables in Mac OS X. This is by deliberate design as it allows a complete installation to be moved from one machine to another. We advise users to move a VirtualRPC installation using the following method:
1.
Firstly take a complete backup of the current installation using either a DVD or a suitably sized Pen Drive. Using Windows make a copy of C:\Program Files\VirtualAcorn to your chosen backup medium. If using Mac OS X then make a copy of the VirtualAcorn folder inside Applications.
2.
If you are using Windows then install a fresh VirtualRPC on your new machine. Once installed do not run it yet. If you are using Mac OS X then please skip this step.
3.
Copy your backup of VirtualRPC (from the DVD or Pen Drive) to the same location on the new machine, for example on Windows copy the VirtualAcorn folder that you have backed up into Program Files. On Mac OS X copy the VirtualAcorn folder that you have backed up into Applications
4.
You have now copied your entire RISC OS installation, including all your files, fonts and applications to the new machine. Once unlocked this will look exactly the same as it did before. If you have upgraded to a faster computer then the only change will be that RISC OS will run faster.
5.
Now un-install your VirtualRPC on the old machine. Don't worry, we still have the backup that we made in step 1, plus we also have all the files on the new machine. On Windows run the VirtualAcorn un-installer which can be found in the VirtualAcorn section of your Programs menu (found by clicking on the 'Start' button), this will remove the main VirtualAcorn application, but will keep all your files intact. On Mac OS X simply drag the whole VirtualAcorn folder from applications into the Trash and then Empty it.
6.
You have now completed moving the VirtualRPC from one machine to another.
Once you have completed the process please fill in the details in the form below, if you are not sure where to find some of the information then please click on this link to open the help page.

If you are running Windows 7 then please ensure that the User Account control slider has been dragged to the Never Notify setting. This article has more details.
As this copy of VirtualRPC has already been unlocked you will need to make the two confirmations requested. If you do not then your request will not be processed and we will be unable to supply you with a new unlock code.
Now click on the Send this Unlock Code Request button to send your unlock code request.
If you have not yet asked for an unlock code from us or if VirtualRPC is asking to be registered on a machine it has already been working on then please return to the Main Registration Page and select the correct link.
